Objectives

  • We prepare girls to be confident adults in the 21st Century

At Westfield we support and encourage our pupils to have the ability and confidence to act with integrity, and the common sense and personality to succeed in whatever their aspirations might be. The world today can appear a challenging and competitive place; Westfield offers a safe environment for our girls to develop the initiative, communication skills and ambition to inspire others.

  • We make learning enjoyable and meaningful

We encourage girls to become responsible, resilient and independent learners. We promote high standards of academic education that allow all pupils to exceed their expectations. Our wider curriculum provides a stimulating and creative education which is relevant to today’s ever-changing world.

  • We develop the full potential of each girl’s character

Our girls know and value who they are and aim to be the best version of themselves. We nurture the individual talents of each one, building up her self-esteem in an aspirational environment where differences are celebrated, not just tolerated. With small class sizes, pupils are encouraged to take opportunities wherever they may lie without fear of failure. We develop future leaders who have integrity and a sense of responsibility (towards the environment and other people).

  • We promote the IDEALS of Round Square

For over 30 years, Westfield has been a member of Round Square. As part of this, our pupils are members of a world-wide community which fosters teamwork and co-operation, encourages tolerance, understanding of diversity and consideration for the needs of others. Round Square has at its heart six IDEALS, namely: Internationalism, Democracy, Environmentalism, Adventure, Leadership and Service. We consider these IDEALS are essential in the current world.

  • We strengthen the school's role within our wider community

We consider it critical that Westfield is a place not only for its pupils and staff, but also for the wider community. Above all, we try to ensure that the School has the sense of family that ensures a nurturing environment for all. We are a community of learners who care for one another and reach out to support our friends and neighbours. We want our premises to be welcoming, used by the community and we actively promote partnerships with other local schools and educators.
