Girls are admitted to Westfield from age 3 and are guaranteed continuity of education up to 18. Our Junior House adjacent to Senior House provides excellent, self-contained accommodation for girls up to age 11.
They benefit from sharing some of the facilities of Senior House, purpose built laboratories and ICT suite, dining room, tennis and netball courts to name but a few. The transfer to Senior House is a smooth one in familiar surroundings.
The potentially difficult move from junior to secondary school is a seamless one at Westfield.
Choosing a single-sex education for your daughter is a very important consideration when selecting a school. In a single-sex environment, pupils have enormous freedom to discover what they enjoy and what they excel at, both academically and in extra-curricular activities, without the pressure to conform to stereotypes.
Growing and developing in an environment where they do not feel self-conscious allows them to take greater risks and grow in confidence.
At Westfield, we like to ensure that girls have experience of working with others. They are encouraged to participate in Round Square activities with other schools across the country or around the world, join the Duke of Edinburgh's Award and become involved in community projects.
At Sixth Form level we work with Newcastle School for Boys to share some teaching classes where pupils from Westfield Sixth Form are taught alongside boys from NSB. There are also some joint trips and activities that are offered to pupils from both schools.
